LONDON CONTEMPORARY is an International Art Fair that presents collective and solo projects by leading and emerging international artists. The 2024 edition represents a forum for the direct exchange of ideas and contacts between collectors, artists, photographers, designers and art professionals. The art fair features paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, video art and live performance.
It analyzed the relationship between body and space, and the hybridization between identities and cultural/physical/social/urban settings in contemporary times.
We invited artists, architects and designers to be inspired by the magical power of London, exploring the connection between desires, needs, and fears through rituals that bring humankind to change, transform and evolve their inner world.
LONDON CONTEMPORARY became a canvas for Hope Carpenter’s vibrant explorations of joy, hope, and remembrance: the artist weaves colors and textures into tales of joy, hope, and cherished memories. Her art, infused with rich experiences and emotions, resonated deeply with viewers, embodying the fair’s theme of emotional and spatial transformation. A further contribution was provided by Monika Chabicovsky’s conceptual self-portraits in her series “The Two Sides of the Truth”, exploring identity, consciousness, and the internal struggle between reason and emotion. Chabicovsky’s enigmatic and dreamlike aesthetics invited viewers to confront their innermost selves with honesty and humor, posing the question: “Who am I, truly?”, challenging traditional boundaries in portraiture by blurring the line between fiction and truth, echoing the exploration of hybridized identities.
London acted as an inspirational backdrop for artists, amplifying their expressive power: Gigi Stan supported this interconnection between the universe flows and his artistic poetry, filling his works with a burning fire that manifests into reality through his brush. Each of his paintings is a culmination of thoughts and feelings that flow in vibrant colors on the canvas, embodying a profound connection between the artist’s inner world and the external expression of art.
Cristina Marino, a self-taught artist from Montreal specialized in acrylics on canvas, enriched the dynamic environment of the fair through her technique heavily influenced by music: she listens to the sound, vibration, tone, and mood of music, such as an Alto Saxophone, to guide her artistic expression. Each painting tells a unique story, crafted with heart and soul: her original pieces provided a unique experience to every viewer, aligning perfectly with the fair’s theme of transforming inner worlds into vivid, external expressions.
